Background:
Teresa has been a member of the faculty at the University of Tennessee, since 1988, after earning her PhD from The University of Georgia. Currently in the Department of Psychology within the Counseling Psychology Program, she has a specialty in neuropsychology; differential diagnoses and assessment, especially impacting learning ability; legal and ethical issues; and gender and diversity. She has maintained an active role in services provision by directing the Assessment Center and consulting with local school districts, practitioners, and Tennessee's Division for Exceptional Children. She has provided state, regional, and national training in assessment and diagnosis, especially in evaluations with neuropsychological bases. She teaches classes in personality, mental health, ethics, psychopathology, assessment, neuropsychology, gender roles, and development.
Previous educational experience includes an EdS in Educational Psychology and Guidance from Georgia Southern University in 1980, two MAs from Appalachian State University in School Psychology and Counseling & Guidance in 1977, and a BS from Appalachian State University in Early Childhood Development, 1975. Teresa has served as a School Psychologist in the public schools of South Carolina for six years. She continues to be active in professional organizations and has most recently served as the President of the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists.
