Background:
Steven Goldman is from New York and graduated from Queens College of City University of New York with a BA in Psychology. He taught high school mathematics in the early 1970s and earned an MBA in 1975 from Baruch College of City University of New York. From 1976-1984, Dr. Goldman was Supervisor of Manufacturing Standards at Signode Corporation in Glenview, IL, and in 1982 he earned a PhD in Industrial Psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Between 1983 and 1985, Dr. Goldman taught courses in Psychology at College of DuPage, Elmhurst College, and Oakton Community College in Illinois.
In 1985, Dr. Goldman was named Executive Director of The Ball Foundation in Glen Ellyn, IL, which is a research, career counseling, and consulting organization. Dr. Goldman was instrumental in establishing two Ball Foundation Consortia on Productivity in the Schools as well as The Foundation's four charter schools in Arizona and Illinois along with The Foundation's many collaborative and systemic initiatives with various school districts in Illinois. In 1999, Dr. Goldman established Assessment Works!, which provides career counseling services to individuals and human resources consulting services to organizations. Most recently, he organized and delivered several workshops on Career Management to Lucent Technologies in China.
Dr. Goldman is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Educational Research Association, American Consulting Association, American Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Chicago Industrial/Organizational Psychologists Association, where he has served on the steering committee. He has authored numerous articles and reports and has presented before professional associations as well as the United States Senate and House of Representatives. Dr. Goldman serves on the New Trier Township Commission on Mental Health and the Board of Overseers of Illinois Institute of Technology. In the past, he has served on the Wilmette Youth Commission and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Corridor Partnership for Excellence in Education.
